Elk River, Idaho is quite possibly one of Idaho's unique places located at the end of Highway 8. Elk River retains many of its early buildings including an interesting old school house. Starting out as a thriving logging community in the late 1800's to 1930's. Now only 125 people live there according to the national census. Potlach Corporation, operated a sawmill in Elk River up until the 1970's when they tore it down. Now all that remains is the log pond and this building. I have to say I really enjoy the reflections in the lake and the colors in the sky! The turquoise color of the building fits nicely with the colors.
